Cairo Fusion offers
technique-specific classes of all levels, along with private instruction.
Our basis is American style bellydance fused with Tribal and many contemporary
and urbanized styles of dance.
Our teaching technique is very
thorough, and disciplined, with great emphasis on creating true performers and
nurturing essential sisterhood. All dancers specialize in dancing as a
group... as sisters.
NO students are required to perform. Performance is elective to each individual. However, Cairo Fusion is a performance-based company and therefore, somewhat more demanding and disciplined than many comparable forms of dance.
Classes are taught in a course-style format. The classes are very fast-paced and require both determination and dedication. In order to become a member of the Gypsy Echoes, ALL aspiring students are required to complete the 'Intro to Cairo Fusion Basics Course' (minimum of 8 months T&T). At show time, we believe our performances better reflect the hard work and equality among our dancers.

Meet the Instructors:
- Samira Il Naia -
-Director, instructor, and choreographer for Cairo Fusion-

-Assistant Director & Cairo Fusion instructor-

"While I love and appreciate all forms of dance, bellydance is where my true heart is, and I found my bellydance home with Cairo
Fusion in January of 2006. In January 2007, I joined Mazana, where I found my
energy, focus, discipline and drive for bellydance fusion. In January of 2010, I
joined Isis, whose focus on technique and clean group dancing fuels me. My true
passion is group dance, large or small, where the community and synergy of
sharing the stage with my sisters is an experience above all others. I danced
throughout both of my pregnancies, in 2006 and 2010, with such love and support
from my sisters in Cairo Fusion I knew this was truly my home and my family."
- Za'Nyah -
-Instructor-

Za'Nyah has taken dance since the age of 3, first with ballet and jazz and later adding tap, lyrical, hip hop, Pointe, salsa, and musical theater. After achieving a BA in Theater Arts in 2004 from Central Washington University, Za'Nyah moved Boise, where she found and fell in love with belly dance. Beginning with traditional forms taught by Sidonia, Za'Nyah found her place in the fusion world with Samira and Cairo Fusion. In 2007 Za'Nyah joined Mazana, where the strength and focus of the classes and choreographies (along with the wonderful sisterhood therein) really lit her fire to continue to improve her technique and experiment with any and all styles of fusion.
- Zelah -
-Instructor-

"Although I took
a handful of jazz and tap classes as a young adult, my primary training has been
marching bands and theater productions. Since joining Cairo Fusion in 2006, I
have had the opportunity to work with, see performances of, and take workshops
from some talented and inspirational ladies and gentlemen, including our very
own Samira Il Naia, Sidonia Om Dunia, Unmata, Suhaila Salimpour, Mardi Love, Zoe
Jakes, Rachel Brice, Kami Liddle, and Michael Beach of the Brothers of the
Baladi. I love exploring new styles, getting challenged every day, and pushing
the boundaries of what is acceptable in bellydance. I look forward to working
with many more amazing people as my adventures with Cairo Fusion and Mazana
continue!"
